5 Questions with Jake Taylor from Cake & Punch Micro Weddings

Meet Jake Taylor, owner and lead designer of the Seattle-based event planning magic-makers, Functions and Gatherings! Seeking to demystify wedding planning, Jake just launched Cake & Punch, offering Seattle “micro weddings” that bundle everything — from fabulous flowers and photography to a stunning venue — in one easy package. Best of all, the venue is our very own historic Town Hall Seattle! We asked Jake five questions to learn a little more about Cake & Punch:

ONE | What’s your relationship to Town Hall? How do you know us? I have the pleasure of planning the annual gala with Town Hall’s development team! A mutual colleague introduced me to Kate when she was the Development Director, suggesting me as a candidate to plan said gala. Fortunately for me, she brought me on board, and I just wrapped production on my 4th gala with the team.

TWO | How did you come up with the idea for Cake & Punch? The road to Cake & Punch has had many stops that make it feel like a really lovely meeting of goals, values, and creativity! We’re reclaiming Cake & Punch from church culture to reset expectations about what a wedding looks like. My mission in the wedding industry has always been to shake things up and to help marriers have more authentic weddings, and Cake & Punch is makin’ it happen!

THREE | What makes Town Hall a good venue for weddings? I mean, first and foremost, it’s GORGEOUS. It’s also versatile! All three levels of the building give us so many options for celebration. Getting married at Town Hall also means that part of your wedding budget goes to support a local nonprofit. with a proven history of amplifying marginalized voices and new ideas. Wins all around!

FOUR | What other vendors do you work with? How did you select them? I get to work with so many amazing vendors all over the area in my work! Whenever possible, I work with vendors that are values-aligned and owned or operated by folks who are often underrepresented in weddings. We all want the industry (and the world!) to be a better place and for love to be celebrated authentically! You can learn more about Cake & Punch vendors at functionsandgatherings.com.

FIVE | The most important question: What’s your favorite cake flavor? While there are a few one-off exceptions, I’m always gonna be a funfetti girly! You really can’t go wrong with a classic flavor and some sprinkles for a little extra pizzazz.

Micro weddings are now booking for August 15 and 16, 2026. To learn more, visit functionsandgatherings.com.
