NEA Jazz Masters and multi-Grammy Award winners Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves celebrate the John Coltrane centennial with a new album and world tour. Reeves joins the stunningly versatile Branford Marsalis Quartet in this project that pays tribute to the seminal collaboration between Coltrane and vocalist Johnny Hartman, as well as other beloved ballads from Coltrane’s repertoire. New Orleans-born, with nearly four decades of musical mastery behind him, Marsalis has released over 30 albums, contributed to countless more, and composed for film and stage. The soulful Reeves has performed with iconic musicians around the world, and her last album Beautiful Life (2013, Concord) — with Terri Lyne Carrington, Gregory Porter, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, and Lalah Hathaway — won a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album.
