An Evening of Comedy, Music, and Drag
Note: Doors for this event will open at 6:30 PM.
Town Hall events are approximately 75 minutes long.
School’s out for summer, and we’re ready to ask forgiveness (not permission) as we throw our papers in the air and snap some pencils in the feisty and fast Hall Pass Variety Show. Town Hall may be known for its civic discourse and thoughtful discussions, but tonight we’re keeping it seriously silly with a crew of creatives ready to repurpose reality and make our historic building blush.
Featuring performances by The Moth storyteller and comedian, Emmett Montgomery, local drag menace Beau Degas, Seattle’s songbird Faith Vanchu, and the pavement-pounding big band, Neon Brass Party. Hosted by everyone’s favorite floor wax and dessert topping, Glambrosia Salad!
Emmett Montgomery is a Utah born/Seattle based comedian who was voted Best Seattle Comedian by Seattle Weekly three times, and has done a lot of neat things including Season 9 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, nationally celebrated podcasts and festivals, working with the storytelling organization, The Moth, and is known for his strangeness, his warmth and his beard.
Beau Degas is one of Seattle’s many affordable clowns–just much prettier. Known for her comedic performances and flawless natural makeup, Beau’s ego has slowly grown too big for her gorgeous custom human hair wigs. Her mother describes her drag as, “nice” and “I like when you don’t have lipstick on your teeth.” She’s a Maxxinista, former hand model, and can type 40 words per minute when she’s not driving.
Multifaceted performing artist Faith Vanchu is overjoyed to perform again at Town Hall since curating “Heartbreak Cabaret” back in January. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Cornish College of the Arts and has had the honor of performing with companies such as Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Showtunes Theatre, ACT Theatre, Village Theatre, S.O.A.P, Copious Love, Annex Theatre, and 14/48. She also runs her own craft business called faithsgoods. News about her sketch comedy troop coming soon! @faithvanchu
With a focus on creating space for individuality and amplifying joy throughout the community, Neon Brass Party makes any location party central. Their music stylings range from Latin, to funk, to hip hop, and they’re sure to get audiences of all ages moving and grooving to the tunes.
Glambrosia Salad is a semi-sentient Jell-O salad brought to life from a tragic microwave oven incident. When she’s not hosting gigs and making a polite mess around town, she molds herself into the form of human artist and arts admin, Sasha Bailey. Catch Glam’s work in Washington Ensemble Theatre’s upcoming art and performance installation, queer joy, at Slip Gallery.
Presented by Town Hall Seattle.
