The Romanian Madrigal Choir Jubilee Tour
After 35 years, the famous National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin”, Romania’s most internationally recognized musical ensemble, returns to the United States for an anniversary tour celebrating the National Day of Romania with special recitals in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Seattle.
The much-awaited comeback of one of the world’s great choral ensembles will display the Madrigal’s artistic prowess, evident in the expansive repertoire, the impeccable musical quality, and the spectacular stage presence. Anticipating the magic of winter festivities, the recitals will offer a carefully-crafted program, featuring Renaissance music, Romanian and international carols, and timeless choral compositions.
The Romanian National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin”
Since its foundation in 1963 by the legendary musician and conductor Marin Constantin (1925-2011), the Madrigal Choir has given hundreds of concerts applauded all over the world, establishing itself as a true country brand. It is one of the world standards of choral chamber music and the keeper of a unique concept, defined by its specific sound, stereophonic stage setting and imposing costumes.
The repertoire is directed towards the European Renaissance, Gregorian and Byzantine chant, traditional carols, but also towards classical and contemporary Romanian and universal compositions.
Madrigal Choir’s American tour is organized by the Romanian Embassy to the U.S. together with the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York and with the generous support of the Romanian Ministry of Culture and several sponsors from Romania: Transylvania Bank, Vodafone, ING, UiPath and Fan Courier, and our special community partner: American Romanian Cultural Society – ARCS.
