Welcome to Seattle Children’s Chorus 36th season’s, final concert. This season their theme has been Sing to the Earth. In their first concert, Sky, they dreamed of boundless possibilities. They were awed by the brightness of the sun, the moon, and the stars. In the second concert, Sea, they explored the mysteries of deep waters. They ventured far away to new experiences.
In this final concert, Land, they will remember their rootedness to home. They marvel at the beauty of our world. Through their music-making, we renew our connection to the earth. They are inspired by nature’s triduum – sky, sea, land. And they invite you to share their awe.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We acknowledge that we are on the ancestral homelands of the first peoples of Seattle – the Duwamish, Muckleshoot, Puyallup, Suquamish, Tulalip, among the many Puget Salish peoples. We would like to express our respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors for their enduring care and protection of our shared waterways and land.
We recognize that this acknowledgement alone is not enough. We encourage all of us to take actionable steps to address the inequities that many of our indigenous communities face.
