Town Hall’s beloved literary series, curated by Jane Kaplan, returns for another afternoon of readings brought to life by local actors.
Whether a single chance encounter or an unexpected moment in a long relationship, sometimes you see yourself most clearly through someone else’s eyes. Stellar performers Aishé Keita, Julie Briskman, and Nathaniel Tenenbaum read stories by Amy Hempel, Etgar Keret, Shanteka Sigers, and more!

Aishé Keita is an actress, storyteller, educator and healer. She is so grateful to be working on this project, storytelling is where she conjures her joy! She has performed on stages in Seattle, WA, and throughout the states. Some of her notable performances include Familiar at Guthrie Theater, School Girls; Or the African Mean Girls Play at Arkansas Rep and Jungle Theatre, Reparations at Sound Theatre, Wedding Band at Intiman, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings at Book-It, and The Boy who Kissed the Sky at S.C.T/Alliance.
Julie Briskman has performed leading roles at Seattle Rep, (Sugar in Tiny Beautiful Things and Vera in Indecent) ACT Theatre (Sylvia Fowler in The Women and Linda in The Thin Place). She is a co-founder and artistic producer of The Seagull Project where her roles have included Arkadina in The Seagull, Olga in The Three Sisters, and Ranevskaya in The Cherry Orchard. Julie is a proud recipient of the Lunt-Fontanne Fellowship for career excellence in acting.
Nathaniel Tenebaum is an English/American stage actor based in Seattle. Before the pandemic, he was in Seattle Rep’s production of Indecent and Dreamgirls the Musical at Village Theatre. During quarantine, Nathaniel baked one strawberry cheesecake, sewed one unwearable shirt, and played his vinyl. Post-quarantine, he was in A Christmas Carol at ACT Theatre and The Wiz at the 5th Ave Theatre.

About the Director
Short Stories Live Director Jane Kaplan is a producer and director whose professional work has graced Seattle’s stages for decades including as a collaborator/director for ACT’s Pinter Fortnightly Reading Series from 2009-2012.
She has been the driving force behind The Rendezvous and Jewelbox Theater for over 20 years providing artists a public stage to present new work and build community. Jane holds an MFA from Yale School of Drama.
