Step into the Shadows — An Afternoon with Saints, Souls, and Spirits
Note: Live Captioning will be available for this event.
Town Hall’s beloved literary series, curated by Jane Kaplan, returns for another afternoon of readings brought to life by local actors.
In some traditions, October is considered a time when the veil between the living and the dead grows thin. And a time of greater communication between these realms. Join Bradford Farwell, Sarah Harlett, and Gabriela Noble reading eerie stories by Karen Russell, Allison Mills, Edgar Allen Poe, and more. With Joe Doria on the Hammond B3 Organ. Do you dare to enter?
Bradford Farwell has worked at many theaters around Seattle. He was last scene as Mayer Lehman in ACT production of The Lehman Trilogy. He performs a one-person show about Edgar Allen Poe written by Bryan Willis. Look for it next year, here and in Olympia. When he is not in the office he builds things. This is his first time performing at Town Hall.
Sarah Harlett (she/her): Recent credits include: Romeo and Juliet (Seattle Shakespeare Co), King John (Actors Theater of Louisville/upstart crow), The Tempest (Wooden O), What The Constitution Means To Me (u/s, Seattle Repertory Theatre), Richard III, Bring Down The House (upstart crow/Seattle Shakespeare), Gloria: A Life, Frost/Nixon, The Birds and Memorandum (Strawberry Theatre Workshop), The Events (Intiman Theatre), Middletown and A Christmas Carol (ACT), Frog and Toad, The Hundred Dresses, and Bunnicula (Seattle Children’s Theater) Regional credits: Chautauqua Insititute, NY; Tantrum Theater, Ohio. Internationally: Centre de Danse (Paris, France). Seattle Gregory Award: Outstanding Lead Performance for Richard III, nomination for Outstanding Supporting Performance in Frost/Nixon. Sarah is a teaching artist and intimacy director at Cornish College of the Arts.
Gabriela Noble moved to the Northwest after studying theatre and music in college. She has performed in theatre, film, commercials, and voice-over gigs ever since. She is very passionate about the arts and is grateful to share this beautiful story for Short Stories Live.
Joe Doria is a musician and composer of the Hammond Organ, Piano, Synths & Vintage Keys based in Seattle. Immersed in the rich tradition of the Hammond, Joe draws inspiration from the giants of the instrument while fearlessly exploring diverse musical styles. Joe is also the founder and leader of McTuff, a mainstay in the local music club scene for over 15 years.
