Theatre Arts at Any Age
EVENT NOTES
Doors for this event will open at 6:30 PM. Town Hall events are approximately 75 minutes long.

Just because you’re aging doesn’t mean you need to stay out of the limelight.
Join Judith Shahn and Rebecca Crichton as they discuss being an active participant in the theater arts at any age and the importance of theaters of all sizes in our community.
Judith brings a lifetime of experience as a performer and teacher, including 26 years at the UW School of Drama. She continues to act and consult, proof that formal retirement can be the start of a new stage.
Judith Shahn has been a theatre artist since she was a kid. She graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University and went directly to New York City, where she performed off-off Broadway and was a singing waitress. Judith came to Seattle to join the theatre community in 1984 and became one of the leading dialect/voice coaches in the Northwest area, coaching dozens of productions at Seattle Rep, ACT Theatre, Intiman, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Seattle Opera, Fifth Avenue, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival.
She taught for 26 years at The University of Washington’s School of Drama, then for 8 years at The School of Law, creating curriculum for Persuasive Communication. She has her own coaching practice, Vibrant Speaking, where she works with people in diverse professions. Since retiring, she was seen in Coriolanus (an all-female production) at 12th Avenue Arts, My Antonia at Book-it Theatre, and Outside Mullingar at Bainbridge Performing Arts for As If Theatre.
Rebecca Crichton, Executive Director of Northwest Center for Creative Aging (NWCCA), brings wisdom and purpose to her work with the aging community. She retired from a 21-year career at Boeing as a writer, curriculum designer, and leadership development coach. Her Encore Career uses her knowledge and experience to offer programs and resources related to Creative Aging in the Seattle area. NWCCA collaborates monthly with Town Hall Seattle. She facilitates Wisdom Cafes for the King County Library System and writes a regular column for 3rd Act Magazine.
Trained as a Hospice Volunteer, Rebecca continues to teach and facilitate Grief and Resilience support groups for several organizations. Rebecca has master’s degrees in child development and organizational development and is a Certified Coach.
Presented by Town Hall Seattle and Northwest Center for Creative Aging.
