Experience the vibrant cultures of East Asia in Echoes of the East, a mesmerizing journey through music. Gustav Holst’s enchanting Japanese Suite and Bao Yuan-Kai’s evocative Sketches of Taiwan will paint vivid soundscapes of Eastern traditions, and the program will conclude with the timeless elegance of Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, performed by rising local phenom Lin Tokura. Let these captivating melodies transport you across continents and centuries in a celebration of cultural harmony and artistic brilliance.

Lin Tokura, 13, began playing the violin at 3 and is currently studying with Dr. Robin Wilson at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England. After making her orchestral debut at the age of 11 as the winner of the Cascade Symphony’s Rising Star Competition under the baton of Maestro Michael Miropolsky, she has performed with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, the Bellevue Chamber Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Northwest. She has also been selected to appear as a Young Artist Soloist with the Seattle Symphony and Olympia Symphony in the 2024-2025 season. Lin is an avid chamber musician, participating in the Seattle Chamber Music Society’s Academy Program. Her duo was featured on Classical KING FM 98.1 and at the Seattle Chamber Music Society’s Academy Showcase Concert. They have also appeared in master classes with James Ennes, Edward Aron, and Alisa Weilerstein. The instrument used is a 1669 Nicolò Amati (three-quarter) on loan from Nippon Violin.
