Seattle's Innovation and Leadership in Climate Equity
Presented by Seattle Parks Foundation. For questions about this event, please contact info@seattleparksfoundation.org or (206) 332-9900.
For 25 years, Seattle Parks Foundation (SPF) has partnered with communities to champion thriving and equitable parks and public spaces. As they look forward to the next 25 years, they are focusing their energy and resources on addressing local nature-based climate solutions that improve resiliency and adapt to a changing world. Whether it is investing in tree canopy solutions in areas with the greatest heat islands, transforming hardscapes into greenscapes, or addressing gaps in local urban food systems, SPF is committed to solutions driven by and for communities.
To that end, SPF is excited to present a conversation with local leaders in climate and equity this Earth Day. The event will be moderated by Hannah Murphy Winter (they/she), journalist, author, and the Editor-in-Chief at The Stranger. Before that, they spent much of their career at Rolling Stone, where they wrote about queerness, the climate crisis, and the intersection between politics and the arts—usually not all at once.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet members of grassroots organizations who are addressing the many facets of climate change and equity in our region. These groups will have displays in the lobby to share information about their work and how attendees can get involved.
