As a graduate student in the UW Earth and Space Sciences department, Ula Jones uses the properties of solutions and ices at extreme conditions alongside geophysical modeling to study the interiors and potential habitability of icy moons and exoplanets.
Tongqiu (Iris) Jia is a PhD candidate in the Department of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington. She studies the rapid evolution of pathogens inside our bodies. Her current work focuses on the dynamics and selection on Pseudomonas populations in the lung.
Henry Mangalapalli’s research goals are to understand two phenomena: why some patients are more likely to have high cholesterol, and why despite having normal cholesterol some patients are more prone to arterial blockages which cause heart attacks.
