The Trump administration’s astronomical budget request for the Pentagon — proposed even as spending on health, environment, education, nutrition, and veterans’ benefits is on the chopping block—shows the military-industrial complex has more influence than ever.
Join the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility for a conversation with William Hartung and Ben Freeman, authors of the acclaimed Trillion Dollar War Machine, which takes readers behind the scenes of the military industrial complex that is driving us into foreign wars and bankrupting us at home. The authors will painstakingly reveal the Pentagon and weapons makers’ pervasive influence on our government, our politics, and our culture — from the movies we watch and the video games we play to the distortion of scientific research for military purposes. But, most importantly, they’ll discuss what the rest of us can do to fight back.
The event is being co-hosted by the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility (WPSR), an organization dedicated to fighting for peace, social justice, and environmental protection and restoration.
Books will be for sale and signed by the authors.
The event is free and open to the public.
Events are offered for informational, entertainment, and educational purposes only. Read Town Hall’s Program Content Policy.
