Join Landesa for their signature annual fundraising event, Seed the Change. Gather and grow a community of supporters to advance land rights and climate justice for millions of people across the globe.

Landesa is honored to welcome renowned human rights lawyer, writer, front-line defender, and activist Steven Donziger as the keynote speaker for the evening. Steven has been internationally heralded for his focus on addressing human rights abuses and corporate malfeasance.

Known for his “Herculean tenacity” (Business Week), Steven is part of the team working with Indigenous and farmer communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, who won a historic $9.5B judgment against Chevron for the environmental cleanup of what experts consider to be one of the worst oil-related catastrophes in the world.

Following the stunning victory, he became the main target of a retaliatory campaign by Chevron – the only person ever to be prosecuted by a corporation – and was wrongly imprisoned, receiving support from 68 Nobel Laureates and 120 NGOs working for his release. Steven’s analysis and commentary on human rights and environmental and criminal justice matters has been featured in numerous legal publications, academic journals, and news outlets. Steven’s insights from his tremendous career as a litigator and advocate and decades of work addressing human rights abuses, offering a unique perspective on how global events impact individuals, organizations, and communities today.

There will be appearances by select Landesa program staff members including, Constance Teage, Liberia Program Director, and Dr. Monica Mhoja, Outreach Director-Africa. We look forward to a night of globally inspired cuisine and beverages, a musical performance by Gansango, connecting with Landesa’s dedicated staff, and immersive and engaging activities about the profound impact of land rights. Your presence will make this an unforgettable evening as we unite for a cause that resonates across borders and generations.
