This year’s commissioned artist, Roman Goron, the Seattle-based French-Filipino-American pianist, debuts an original three movement suite reflecting on nature’s cycles of blossoming & decay, to tell the story of our shared human experience. The music is jazz-centric, with orchestral, experimental and electronic influences. A product of the jazz programs at Bellevue High and Bellevue College, and soon Juilliard-bound, Goron has received four DownBeat Student Music Awards and many others.
Goron’s ensemble includes stunning local players: Johnaye Kendrick (vocals), Alina To (violin), Michael Glynn (upright bass), and Xavier Lecouturier. (drums).
