“This stellar quartet, featuring kora, cello, accordion and saxophone, channel a multitude of influences to irresistible effect”(The Guardian). Les Égarés (the wandering ones or the lost ones) is an amalgamation of two virtuoso duos—Ballaké Sissoko (kora) and Vincent Segal (cello) on one side and Émile Parisien (saxophone) and Vincent Peirani (accordion) on the other. Together they expertly meld jazz, traditional music forms, and the avant garde in a wonderful unity of spirit and fluidity. Released in 2023 by No Format and ACT Music, their self-titled album created a positive stir—”they create a bewitching interplay on tunes that lead them in and out of varied territory, from traditional kora melodies to European-flavoured anthems.”(UK Jazz News).
