If you’ve ever cracked open a graphic novel, you already know that the stunning imagery in these books enhances the storytelling beyond the measure of mere words on the page. But have you ever wondered what it takes to write, ink, and publish these works?

Join us at Town Hall Seattle for an enlightening evening with graphic novelist and illustrator, Kazu Kibuishi, as he engages in conversation about the art of creating and publishing graphic novels. Best known for his captivating Amulet series, Kibuishi has crafted immersive worlds and narratives that have garnered a dedicated following of readers young and old. Donna Barba Higuera, a gifted storyteller in her own right, will moderate the conversation, delving into the nuances of crafting compelling narratives in the graphic novel format.

Celebrating the release of the final book in the Amulet series, Kazu Kibuishi and Donna Barba Higuera will share their experiences, techniques, and inspirations, providing an enriching evening for graphic novel aficionados and anyone passionate about the creative process.

Kazu Kibuishi is a renowned graphic novelist, best known for the New York Times Bestselling Amulet series. He’s also the creative force behind Explorer and Flight Comic Anthologies and the webcomic Copper. His debut graphic novel, Daisy Kutter: The Last Train, received the YALSA Best Books for Young Adults Award in 2005. Born in Tokyo, Japan, Kibuishi’s journey as an artist began at the age of 5. Although he chose not to attend art school, he graduated with a degree in Film and Media Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara. After a brief stint in graphic design, architecture, and the animation industry, he returned to his passion for comics and is now a full-time graphic novelist.
