“Debashish Bhattacharya is the master of the slide guitar…he has no equal.” — John McLaughlin
Bhattacharya has not only been recognized as one of the globe’s finest slide guitarists, he is also an innovator and inventor. A delightful bonus of seeing him live is experiencing the ornate stringed instruments of Debashish’s creation including the Chaturangui, Pushpa Veena a 25-string hybrid of the Rabab sarod and slide guitar, and more.
Accompanying Debashish for this mystical exploration of sound is his daughter Anandi, a gifted vocalist and a rising star in her own right, and his younger brother Subhasis, who is recognized as one of the greatest percussionists of his generation.
With lilting, elegant vocal lines, labyrinthine slide guitar, driving complex rhythms of tabla, and the luminous sparkle of the Swarmandal, Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya and his band will transport audiences to a time beyond time for this one-night-only concert.
