From Alaska to northern California, wild salmon have shaped the lands, waters, and cultures for millennia. Join Braided River for an evening of photography, storytelling, and conversation exploring the deep connections between healthy rivers, Indigenous stewardship, and thriving communities in wild salmon country.
Featuring vibrant stories from The Salmon Way, keynote Amy Gulick will share about the remarkable fish that provide a fundamental source of food, livelihood, and identity, and connect generations and communities. Gulick is a two-time Braided River author, founding Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers, and a recipient of the Daniel Housberg Wilderness Image Award from the Alaska Conservation Foundation. Her stories from Alaska will be interwoven with voices from Save Our Wild Salmon, and the Columbia Snake River Campaign to provide local solutions on how to restore salmon runs and the ecosystems they sustain.

Writer and photographer Amy Gulick has received numerous honors, including a Lowell Thomas Award from the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation, the Daniel Housberg Wilderness Image Award from the Alaska Conservation Foundation, and the Voice of the Wild Award from the Alaska Wilderness League. She is the recipient of both the Mission Award and the Philip Hyde Grant Award from the North American Nature Photography Association. Her first book, Salmon in the Trees: Life in Alaska’s Tongass Rainforest (Braided River, 2010) is both a Nautilus and Independent Publisher Book Award winner. She lives with her husband on an island in Puget Sound.
