Town Hall Presents

Join Orquesta Northwest, the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, and Town Hall Seattle for a joyful celebration of Mexican Independence, community, music, and culture as El Grito celebrates its 10th anniversary!

For ten years, Orquesta Northwest’s El Grito celebration has brought our community together through the music, dance, traditions, and spirit of Mexico. This September, we return to Town Hall Seattle for a very special anniversary celebration—honoring where we have come from and looking forward to the future together.

The celebration begins with Aztec dancers CAtl Tonalli and pianist Denisse Avena Arevalo, followed by a special concert in the Great Hall featuring Paula Madrigal and the Ballard Civic Orchestra, with guest artist, the fabulous tenor Jose Rubio. Experience the extraordinary richness of Mexican orchestral music with works by Carlos Chávez, Manuel M. Ponce, and Arturo Márquez.

At the heart of the afternoon is the traditional Grito de Independencia, led by Víctor Hugo López Ortega, Consul of Mexico in Seattle, accompanied by the Escolta de la Federación Jalisciense en Washington and the singing of the Mexican National Anthem.

And the celebration doesn’t end with the concert! Stay for the fiesta, with Mariachi Hermanas Rosario and Bailadores de Bronce in the Forum, Semilla Folklorica and Trío Guadalevín in the Great Hall, food, dancing, and more.
