Social Connections as Catalysts for Change
Note: Town Hall events are approximately 75 minutes long.
What would it look like if social movements had the same level of engagement and support as the world’s biggest entertainers? Adam Met, climate advocate, educator, and member of the multiplatinum band AJR, gained firsthand experience growing an audience from the ground up as the band progressed from playing in living rooms to selling out arenas. Now, Met hopes to provide a blueprint for increasing activism and building support for the causes you care about.
With award-winning journalist Heather Landy, Met offers strategies on how to apply fan-building principles to social movements. In the new book Amplify: How to Use the Power of Connection to Engage, Take Action, and Build a Better World, readers are advised on how to develop passionate supporters (i.e., fans) using engagement, collaboration, and authentic connection, with tactics designed with the intention of inspiring people to spread your message and act on it.
Amplify includes research and strategies from notable thinkers across a spectrum of fields, from former presidential candidate Andrew Yang to popular scientist Bill Nye to Duran Duran manager Wendy Laister, among others.
Whether you hope to ignite a movement or are exploring ways to make an impact, Amplify offers ideas for we can do, not only to imagine the world we want to live in, but to collectively create it.
