Makenzie Patarino, Alexander James Robinson, Haskelle White-Gianella
Note: Town Hall events are approximately 75 minutes long.
Hear from UW students about their research on the behavioral effects of chronic alcohol, how viruses interact with each other, and Venus’s geologic past.
Makenzie Patarino is a PhD student in neuroscience at UW, working with Dr. Abbie Schindler at the VA Hospital Puget Sound. Her research aims to characterize the biological and behavioral effects of chronic alcohol use following blast trauma.
Viruses must infect hosts to survive. Interestingly, viruses can interact with each other and share their resources during infection. Alex studies how this cooperation affects a virus’s ability to evolve resistance to drug treatments.
Haskelle White-Gianella is a Dual-Title PhD student in Planetary Science and Astrobiology at the University of Washington. Her research examines Venus’s geologic past and whether it once hosted stable liquid water oceans.
