Arts & Culture

Over 15 years have passed since chef Christina Tosi opened her widely successful bakery, Milk Bar, in New York, during which time it has expanded to four more cities across the country (including nearby Bellevue), boasting lines around the block and turning Tosi into a household name.

The two-time James Beard Award winner, Netflix star, and bestselling author is back with her latest project for our palates: her new cookbook Bake Club: 101 Must-Have Moves for Your Kitchen. Co-authored with Shannon Salzano, author and veteran of the hospitality industry, Bake Club  which also shares a name with Tosi’s afternoon baking show on Instagram Live — is a collection of dozens of sweet and savory recipes for all ages and experience levels that spans over 300 pages. From newer innovations like Glazed Pumpkin Pie Bars, Ted Lasso Biscuits, Miso Butterscotch and Chocolate Peanut Butter Diamonds, to classics like Gummy Bears and Crème Brulé, the recipes are designed with the intention of being manageable for the culinary layperson, with modifications allowed, and no complex ingredients or elaborate equipment required.

Tosi hopes that her cookbook will help readers feel equipped and empowered to have fun in the kitchen and that they will believe that baking is for everyone.

Christina Tosi is a two-time James Beard Award-winning chef and owner of Milk Bar, with bakery locations across the country, an online care package business, and products in the aisles of the grocery store. She served as a judge on Fox’s Masterchef Junior, host of Netflix’s Bake Squad, and was featured in the hit Netflix docu-series Chef’s Table: Pastry. She is author of the New York Times Best Seller, All About Cookies as well as All About Cake, Momofuku Milk Bar, Milk Bar Life, Milk Bar: Kids Only, Dessert Can Save the World, and, for children, Every Cake Has a Story and Just the Right Cake.

Despite having garnered national press and started a real conversion around food and culture, product designer, author, and content creator Frankie Gaw is first and foremost a home cook. He loves creating comforting, nostalgic recipes that may or may not make his ancestors pass out. He’s the author of First Generation: Recipes from My Taiwanese American Home, founder of the award winning food blog titled Little Fat Boy, and mastermind behind the highly acclaimed series “Turning American Classics Asian”.
