Event Attendance Policies
- Acts of disruption, protest, violence, threats, personal attacks, and any other actions construed as intending to disturb or harm Town Hall’s guests, staff, operations, or property will result in immediate ejection from the premises.
- Flags, signs, and blunt objects of any kind are strictly prohibited.
- Flyer distribution, petitions, and signature-gathering initiatives are not allowed at Town Hall-produced events, and all petitioners will be directed to the public sidewalk.

Seattle Nice podcast hosts Erica C. Barnett, Sandeep Kaushik, and David Hyde will moderate this lively debate between Tanya Woo and Alexis Rinck.
Alexis Rinck
A dedicated organizer, Alexis has worked on campaigns for Planned Parenthood, advocated against corporate money in politics, and protested harmful policies. After earning degrees in political science and sociology, she moved to Seattle to pursue a career in public policy, focusing on housing equity and public health. Alexis now seeks to bring her lived experience and expertise to the Seattle City Council, advocating for progressive change and ensuring Seattle remains a city for everyone.
Tanya Woo
Tanya Woo’s family immigrated to Seattle in 1887. She grew up on Beacon Hill, worked at her family business in the Chinatown International District, and currently resides in Rainier Beach. She believes in empowering communities and ensuring that every voice is heard.

Erica C. Barnett is the editor and publisher of PubliCola, a 15-year-old online publication that covers a broad range of critical local issues, including housing, homelessness, elections, and the criminal legal system. She is a frequent guest and commentator on KUOW and the co-host of the weekly Seattle Nice podcast. Her book, Quitter: A Memoir of Drinking, Relapse, and Recovery was published by Viking in 2020 and is now out in paperback.
Sandeep Kaushik is a partner at Sound View Strategies, a political and public affairs consulting firm he co-founded in 2009. Previously Sandeep worked as deputy communications director for then-King County Executive Ron Sims, and before that he worked as a staff writer at the Stranger and as the Seattle correspondent for Time Magazine and the Boston Globe. He currently serves as the board chair of the Downtown Emergency Services Center (DESC) and is on the board of HistoryLink.org.
David Hyde created and hosts the Seattle Nice podcast. Each episode dives into contentious and sometimes ridiculous topics, exploring perspectives from across Seattle’s political spectrum, from city council brawls to the ways the national political conversation filters through our unique political process. For nearly 2 decades, David worked for NPR affiliate KUOW in Seattle, most recently as a Murrow-award winning politics reporter. He departed in April of this year to dedicate himself full-time to podcasting and other journalism projects.
