In the small desert town of Night Vale, ghosts, angels, aliens, and government conspiracies are all commonplace parts of everyday life. Since 2012, Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor have been telling stories from the bizarre, hypnotic world they’ve created with their acclaimed podcast Welcome To Night Vale. Fink and Cranor join us for a livestream broadcast exploring their new book The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home, which weaves a chilling story of the elderly specter who lives in every home in Night Vale—and the terrifying vengeance she is capable of.

In conversation with improviser and podcaster Adal Rifai, Fink and Cranor bring us a discussion of their book, sharing stories about the character of The Faceless Old Woman—her tragic childhood on a Mediterranean estate, her rise in the criminal underworld, her nautical adventure with a mysterious organization of smugglers, her plot for revenge on those who have betrayed her, and her ultimate death and its aftermath as her spirit travels the world for decades until settling in Night Vale. Tune in with Fink, Cranor, and Rifai for a conversation about the latest expansion of the Night Vale narrative, and a glimpse of new tales that are equal parts riveting, unexpected, and horrifying.

Presented by Town Hall Seattle.
