Earshot Jazz presents
Tyshawn Sorey Quintet

Tyshawn Sorey is lauded as a prodigious drummer and vaunted musical mind. He arrives at Town Hall as part of the 31st Annual Earshot Jazz Festival—joining us in the midst of his four-part stint as the Seattle Symphony’s Composer-in-Residence. Sorey is praised for his of-the-moment artistry, having received numerous accolades including being named a 2017 MacArthur Fellow. A drummer-of-choice for many avant-gardists, Sorey “plays not only with gale-force physicality, but also a sense of scale and equipoise” (New York Times). Sorey takes the stage for a concert alongside a hand-picked quintet featuring Nathan Reising on alto sax, Morgan Guerin on tenor sax, Sasha Berliner on vibraphone, Lex Korten on piano, and Nick Dunston on bass.

The 31st Annual Earshot Jazz Festival celebrates the art form’s leading edges and cultural heritage. For 33 days, jazz greats from around the world and renowned resident artists come together to create, share, improvise, explore, collaborate, and swing.
