The Town Music series has been an integral part of Town Hall history and a pillar of our programming. When Joshua Roman first joined us as Artistic Director of Town Music in 2007, he brought with him a breadth of musical interests and the philosophy that chamber music could not only honor history, it could defy boundaries. And so it is with equal parts gratitude and sadness that we announce Joshua Roman’s final season as artistic director of Town Music. We’re grateful for Joshua’s past and present leadership — there’s no one better suited to usher us from one extraordinary era of Town Music to the next.
This season, titled “In The Room,” celebrates everything that Town Music has been and what it has become. For the first event of the season, we welcome the dynamic PUBLIQquartet (12/6), followed by the collaborative musical storytelling of the Verona Quartet, joined by Joshua for an exploration of the two-cello quintet format (1/14). Next, the extraordinary Edgar Meyers, Tessa Lark, and Joshua (3/2) journey through the authentic soul of American fiddling in its fanciest form. In Spring, Catalyst Quartet (4/12) joins us with new birthday tributes from 10 diverse composers, co-commissioned by Town Hall Seattle, and the whole season is capped off with an epic Final Cello-bration (6/7), that promises a lineup you won’t want to miss!
