Town Hall’s Day of Service will work with Seattle Tilth’s Just Garden project to build raised bed vegetable gardens for low-income families and disadvantaged communities in Federal Way. Volunteers will gather at Light of Christ Lutheran Church at 9 a.m. to share a light breakfast and coffee while the Just Garden team introduces the event. Volunteers will also learn about organic gardening as they help prepare planting beds, plant seeds, and transplant starts, preparing gardeners for a bountiful harvest. After the build (between 12-2pm), volunteers will return to Light of Christ Lutheran Church for a provided lunch. Tools, gloves, and warm-up exercises are provided at this free event, but be sure to wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. These events are great for young people 10 and up who are accompanied by parents. Want to carpool? Sign up to offer or ask for a ride here.
