2022 Summer of Science Fiction and Fantasy

Join the Clarion West 2022 Summer of Science Fiction and Fantasy for their fourth reading event with Tobias S. Buckell. Award-winning science fiction author Nisi Shawl will be interviewing Buckell about the craft of writing science fiction, followed by a short reading.

New York Times Bestselling author and World Fantasy Award winner Tobias S. Buckell has spoken across the world about creativity, writing, futurism, science fiction, green futurism, geo-engineering, and much more.

His novels and nearly one hundred short stories have been translated into twenty different languages. His work has been nominated for numerous awards, including the Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy, and the Astounding Award for Best New Science Fiction Author.

Buckell’s Xenowealth series begins with Crystal Rain. Along with other stand-alone novels and his almost one hundred stories, his works have been translated into twenty different languages. He has been nominated for awards like the Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy, and the Astounding Award for Best New Science Fiction Author. His latest novel is A Stranger in the Citadel, an Audible Original free to anyone with an Audible account.

Nisi Shawl is best known for fiction dealing with gender, race, and colonialism, including the Nebula-finalist novel Everfair. They’re also the coauthor of Writing the Other: A Practical Approach. Shawl is a cofounder of the Carl Brandon Society, and has served on the board of the Clarion West Writers Workshop for two decades. Honors include the Otherwise Award, the World Fantasy Award, two Locus Awards, and FIYAH Magazine’s Ignyte Award.
