This workshop is for anyone who has ever felt a story in their bones or carried tension in their neck and wanted to finally find a way to translate it to the page. Join writer, doula, and Inside/Out Resident, Jordan Alam; Black disabled punk femme body artist Neve Mazique; and Filipinx, queer and trans poet, music producer, and singer-songwriter Nic Masangkay for a writing workshop on teasing out your own stories of the body.
Learn more about the tools and experiences these artists build their craft, their sources of inspiration, and the prompts they use to get the words out. Workshop participants will consider the physical act of writing, with the challenge to use their life as source material in a series of exercises curated by event organizer Jordan Alam.
This workshop is a follow-up program to Jordan’s 3/31 event at the Rainier Arts Center, How the Body Holds Its Stories.
Presented by Town Hall Seattle with support with The Cloud Room and Seattle Department of Neighborhoods as part of the Arts & Culture series.
