A Town Hall tradition, the holiday edition of Short Stories Live (curated by Jean Sherrard) brings together unconventional holiday tales for an afternoon of short stories, poems, and seasonal music by returning house band Pineola (comprised of Leslie Braly, John Owen, Josh Woods, Dirk Lebsack, and Ed Brooks). Favorite Northwest actors, including Kurt Beattie, Marianne Owen, and Bill Ontiveros, will take turns sharing the gleeful, carousing nature only “A Rogue’s Christmas” can hold.
This year’s story selections include the irreverent and witty “You Better Not Cry” from Augusten Burroughs, “Three Wise Guys,” Sandra Cisneros’ story of a well-intentioned but misbegotten clash of cultures, the funny and bittersweet “Home for the Holidays” by Chris Radant, and a selection from Jeanette Winterson’s “Christmas Days” encompassing the childlike and spooky wonder of Christmas. Plus, poetry and shorts by Calvin Trillin, Dave Barry, and others.
Presented by Town Hall Seattle as part of the Arts & Culture series.
