The Great Outdoors

The Great Hall

The Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra is committed to achieving musical excellence and diversity through live performances that are accessible, fun, and engaging. They take Town Hall’s stage for an unforgettable winter concert celebrating the great outdoors, presenting works by Copland, Respighi, and Beethoven.

Hear Copland’s An Outdoor Overture, with grandiose trumpet solos and sweeping woodwinds to evoke a brightly optimistic, wide-open triumph of Americana. Then reflect on the beauty of Respighi’s Pines of Rome, a four-movement symphonic poem meant to guide the listener an a journey among the pine trees across Rome at different times of the day. Finally, sit in for Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony No. 6, which the nature-loving composer called “more the expression of feeling than painting.” PSSO invites us to experience a performance of three compositions honoring the beauty of the natural world.

Presented by Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra.
