Black Lives Matter, #shoutyourabortion, Occupy Wall Street–the rising tide of grassroots activism in America shows that not only can people become empowered to speak out, but that they can also follow through. For longtime Seattle City Council member (and champion for human rights) Nick Licata, there’s a clear path to achieving this kind of activism. Using local examples from his long career, he’ll discuss Becoming a Citizen Activist as well as meaningful tools anyone searching for justice can utilize to help create change in their community. According to Licata, it all starts with motivation, organization, and proper communication.
