MacArthur Award-winner Marla Spivak will deliver the keynote address for National Pollinator Week/Seattle Edition, discussing wild bees and how to provide sustainable habitats in both urban and suburban settings. Through an onstage interview, Spivak will apply her findings to Seattle’s local work including initiatives for study and conservation of wild bees. National Pollinator Week is a global celebration of the birds, bees, bats, and other pollinating creatures which contribute to the ecosystem, with events organized locally by The Common Acre and Washington State University, among others. An entomologist at the University of Minnesota, Spivak specializes in practical applications to protect honey bee populations.
