Seattle’s port and its surrounding land and water are essential to our region’s economy, health, and climate resilience. The stakes for how the port is run have grown ever-higher, particularly during the pandemic; layered in is a hundred-year history of redlining that has perpetuated inequity in Seattle’s communities of color. To right these wrongs and confront the climate crisis, civic leaders need to come together and truly invest in environmental justice and equitable economic development as if lives depend on it — because they do.
Join the Seattle Parks Foundation and Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition, in partnership with Seattle-area environmental and climate justice organizations, for a civic conversation with Seattle’s Port Commissioner candidates. Engage with community groups and leaders actively working on these issues. Tune into the Livestream and provide comments and reactions during the forum alongside other voters and community members!
