Son Cubano is one of the most popular musical styles in Cuba, and Kiki Valera is one of its foremost exponents. He makes his way to Town Hall as part of the 31st Annual Earshot Jazz Festival for a concert highlighting this fiercely formative style’s contributions to modern jazz. A continuing force in the evolution of Cuban music, Valera invites us to enjoy sones, boleros, and guarachas with a band of masters, La Familia Valera Miranda—one of the most important groups in the history of the Son Cubano.
The 31st Annual Earshot Jazz Festival celebrates the art form’s leading edges and cultural heritage. For 33 days, jazz greats from around the world and renowned resident artists come together to create, share, improvise, explore, collaborate, and swing.
