Hunger isn’t just the absence of food, it’s the absence of justice. When our systems are broken, the most vulnerable in our state suffer the most. Food justice aligns itself with the primary goals of social justice—demanding equal opportunity and access to basic rights and needs. To show us a way forward in promoting food justice, Northwest Harvest presents a panel discussion on Town Hall’s stage with a focus on providing equitable access to nutritious food for everyone. These experts take a 360-degree look at food policy—addressing issues such as racism, classism, and systemic inequalities of opportunity in our communities that lead to chronic poverty and food insecurity.
Panelists:
US Congresswoman Kim Schrier
Chef, Entrepreneur, Business Leader, and Policy Advisor, Taylor Hoang
PLU’s Director of Multicultural Outreach & Engagement, Melannie Cunningham
