Earshot Jazz presents renowned Seattle multi-instrumentalist Jay Thomas. Equally compelling on trumpet, flugelhorn, alto, tenor, soprano, and flutes, Thomas has been a stand-out star since his debut in the 1960s. Thomas arrives at Town Hall with a hand-picked ensemble of American and Japanese jazz musicians—the East West Alliance—celebrating jazz as a language of musical expression the world over. Calling on jazz as multicultural art form and a tool for bringing people together, Thomas assembles the East West Alliance on Town Hall’s stage—featuring Yasuhiro Kohama on tenor sax, Yuki Hirate on piano, Maya Hatch on vocals, Atsushi Ikeda on alto sax, Daisuke Kurata on drums, and Phil Sparks on bass.
The 31st Annual Earshot Jazz Festival celebrates the art form’s leading edges and cultural heritage. For 33 days, jazz greats from around the world and renowned resident artists come together to create, share, improvise, explore, collaborate, and swing.
Presented by Earshot Jazz.
