Jana More Lohn

Children grow up full of questions and wrestle with deep, thoughtful issues—What does it mean to be good? Why do people die? Who am I? That’s natural, says Jana Mohr Lone, director of the UW’s Northwest Center for Philosophy for Children, because to mature emotionally, kids must develop their desire and ability to think abstractly about themselves and their experiences. But as parents, how do we answer those questions? Lone, author of The Philosophical Child, offers guidance on approaching philosophical questions with children of all ages to help them develop their “philosophical selves.” Presented as part of the Town Hall Civics series with University Book Store. Series supported by The Boeing Company, the RealNetworks Foundation, and the True/Brown Foundation.
