Join us in welcoming Kiran Ahluwalia and Souad Massi, two incredible vocalists whose songs share themes of love and activism. Kiran Ahluwalia is a two time JUNO award-winning vocalist rooted in Pakistani and Indian music, with intoxicating elements of African desert blues and jazz. Wrapped in a five-piece ensemble to add progressive flourishes of electric guitar and bass, Ahluwalia serenades us with expressions of divine love, sensuality and Sufi mysticism.
Complementing her is Souad Massi, an Algerian-born multilingual musician lauded as one of the most successful female singer-songwriter in the Arabic speaking world. She debuts her new spellbinding trio of all-female singers and musicians. Witness them together in an enchanting concert blending themes of sublime moments of self-discovery with the creativity and tolerance that represent the hallmarks of early Muslim civilizations.
Presented by Town Hall Seattle as part of the Arts & Culture and Global Rhythms series.
