The Earshot Jazz Festival returns this year in an all-digital format! Now in its 32nd year, the 2020 festival will be streamed straight to you, with a mix of online concert performances, panel discussions, and an emphasis on racial, social, and gender justice. Jazz teaches us to listen, learn, and improvise. With Earshot’s typical programming model upended, they’re taking this opportunity to re-envision what a creative, community-focused jazz festival can look like.
Three-time Latin Grammy nominee Jovino Santos Neto—a master pianist, composer, and arranger—is among the top Brazilian musicians working today. His Latin Grammy-nominated Quinteto—comprised of bassist Chuck Deardorf, drummer Mark Ivester, percussionist Jeff Busch, and Ben Thomas (vibes)—was formed in 1993, and has become one of the most important creative music ensembles of the West Coast. Performing Jovino’s original arrangements and compositions, its members excel in near-telepathic musical interactions. Tune in for a concert of modern harmonic journeys, deep lyricism, and high-energy Brazilian grooves that never fail to excite audiences.
