Town Hall continues our partnership with Earshot Jazz, presenting powerhouse jazz musicians in one-night-only livestreams.

Saxophonist Michael Brockman leads a quintet of young guns from Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra in this live exploration of compositions by the great Thelonious Monk, including his famous pieces, “Misterioso,” “I Mean You,” and “Round Midnight.” Joining Brockman are SRJO’s regular drummer, D’Vonne Lewis, plus three other Seattle superstars that have recently performed in the SRJO: pianist John Hansen, bassist Michael Glynn, and saxophone player Alex Dugdale. As both a jazz soloist and a classical recitalist, Brockman has toured extensively throughout Europe and the eastern United States. He instructs concert and jazz saxophone performance, as well as jazz arranging and composition, at the University of Washington School of Music. Known for his penchant for dismantling and altering saxophones on a quest for the ideally tuned instrument, Brockman brings us a perfectly calibrated performance tempered with years of practice and a lifelong love of the sax.
