Town Hall continues our partnership with Earshot Jazz, presenting powerhouse jazz musicians in one-night-only livestreams.
In solidarity with the worldwide movement for justice for George Floyd, his family, and Black people everywhere, proceeds from this benefit concert will go to Creative Justice NW, a Seattle-based organization which uses art as a vehicle to end racial disproportionality and youth incarceration. In lieu of a digital tip jar, the artists ask that donations be made directly to Creative Justice.
Duende Libre Trio is a dynamic, genre-bending Seattle ensemble featuring pianist, Alex Chadsey, percussionist, Jeff Busch, and bassist Farko Dosumov. Duende’s sound draws on eclectic influences ranging from Afro-Cuban Jazz to Brazilian Samba, American Funk, and traditional West African music. Their second album Drift received an Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award for “2018 Northwest Recording of the Year.” Along with appearances in Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska, the band has performed at the “Art of Jazz” Series at Seattle Art Museum, KEXP’s Seattle Latin, Brazilian & Caribbean Fest, and a regional appearance as direct support for Stranger Genius Award-winners Industrial Revelation. The group’s newest album, The Dance She Spoke, is set for release on July 17, and features original interpretations of traditional music from Mali and The Republic of Guinea in West Africa; and features special guests Thione Diop and Jabrille “Jimmy James” Williams.
