This year’s talked-about Seattle City Council elections–the first under a new districted system–shook up the primaries for some interesting results. At Town Hall we love a good political debate, so in the spirit of democracy and discussion, we’re teaming up with Seattle Channel to present a series of live debates (with moderated Q&A) for each of the seven districts. Learn more about the candidates running in your district–and don’t forget to vote on November 3.
Moderators: Lead moderator Marcus Harrison Green, Editor of South Seattle Emerald and Reporting Fellow at Yes! Magazine; community moderator Benjamin Hunter, Founder and Director of Community Arts Create; community moderator Rebecca Saldaña, Executive Director of Puget Sound Sage; community moderator Michael Wolfe, board member with The Rainier Valley Chamber of Commerce; and Q&A moderator Edward Wolcher, Town Hall Community Programs Curator.
Pre-event reception: The Rainier Valley Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a pre-event reception. Maya’s Mexican Food Truck will be parked onsite with food for sale. Join us starting at 6pm to discuss the race, meet your neighbors, and enjoy Maya’s fantastic food with beverages provided by the RVCC!
Have a question for the candidates? Tweet a question using #seacouncil or send your questions for the candidates to firstname.lastname@example.org help us shape the conversation. We may ask your question at the event. Please specify which district race you’re writing about.
Non-partisan statement: As a nonprofit organization, Town Hall Seattle does not endorse, recommend, or show any preference toward any candidate.
