Washington’s legalization of recreational marijuana was a historical milestone, but the fast-changing state and national laws regulating the substance have proven difficult to navigate. Christian Hageseth (founder of Green Man Cannabis, author of Big Weed) and Weed the People author Bruce Barcott will discuss the different worlds of recreational and medical marijuana, as well as the political, social, and cultural divides that have cropped up as a result. By focusing on the history of legalization and the current temperature of the nation, they’ll offer insight into the shifting landscape of legal marijuana and outline a possible future–one where giant corporations and small growers work in friendly competition to meet growing demand. The authors will appear in conversation with Dominic Corva, Executive Director of Cannabis and Social Policy.
