Defining ‘The Moral Imperative of Revolt’

Chris Hedges

The need to revolt has been present for hundreds of years–from the nation-based revolutions of the past to Apartheid in South Africa, the Arab Spring, and the Occupy movement. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Chris Hedges (War is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, The Death of the Liberal Class) offers an overview of these and other historical turning points in Wages of Rebellion. He’ll share the lessons he’s learned from the world’s greatest rebels and explain the “sublime madness” it takes to instigate a revolution. Hedges will also present “a call for a new American revolution,” (Kirkus). He’ll explain why (given the height of today’s wealth inequality and negative environmental trends) the time to act is now; ultimately asking whether we as a people are ready to spark the next rebellion.
