The first 20 people in the door will receive a copy of Artist in Residence and acclaimed poet Elisa Chavez’s limited edition zine, “Miss Represented.” A dynamic performer, Chavez will pull back the curtain on the emotional journey of creating this piece and exploring her Chicana identity through intimate, new poems, offered in both English and Spanish. This process reflects an experimental and introspective phase that Chavez has been exploring during her residency here.
Scholar in Residence and award-winning journalist Marcus Harrison Green will present a dramatic reading of Caucasians Anonymous, an original play he developed during his residency. This play imagines the candid conversations that might happen in a support group for anti-racist white allies. This play will explore the role that white people must play in the demolition of racism.
