Appearing for their first U.S. tour, Balkansky is an audio-visual collaborative art project which melds traditional Bulgarian themes with modern technology. The group, comprised of creative director Ivo Kuker Christov, electronica DJ Ivan Shopov, and kaval player/composer Theodosii Spassov, mixes jazz, folk, and electronic sounds for a distinct musical experience. The set features Spasov on the kaval (wooden flute) infused with electronic beats by Shopov and interactive visuals curated by Christov—resulting in one serious jam session.
