Under the artistic direction of Masaaki Suzuki, Bach Collegium Japan is renowned for its striking performances of Baroque music–their 55-disc recording of Bach’s church cantatas even received a 2014 ECHO Klassick award. Hailed by The Independent as having “a freshness and ease in live performance,” the acclaimed ensemble makes their Seattle debut with the work of three greats. They will perform Vivaldi’s concertos for recorder and oboe; Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto;” and backed by powerful soprano Joanne Lunn, “Cantata No. 51” and Handel’s epic early version of “Gloria”–lost for nearly 300 years.
Ticketing note: Early Music Guild offers a $5 Town Hall member discount on tickets. To take advantage of this offer, please order tickets via phone (206-325-7066) or at the box office the evening of the performance. For the best seats, they strongly recommend ordering by phone in advance.
