An annual favorite on Town Hall’s calendar, Slack-key guitar is a celebrated musical tradition in Hawaii, referring to the style as well as the ways an instrument is tuned. This vibrant, finger-picked music showcases Hawaiian stories of feelings, aloha, nature, and more. This year’s performers include Grammy Award-winning Cyril Pahinui, Ledward Kaapana, Mike Kaawa, Kamuela Kimokeo, Jeff Peterson, Peter Moon, Kenneth Makuakāne, John Cruz, Jeff Au Hoy, Nathan Aweau, Patrick Landeza, and other masters of the style. The evening will also feature emcees Skylark Rosetti, Braddah Gomes, and Hula Halau Pulamahiaikelikolehua; Hawaiian tropical flowers; and prize drawings. Explore the traditional, lilting sounds of this unique musical art form.
