Ranked among America’s finest contemporary poets, Tess Gallagher also is an accomplished essayist, fiction writer, and playwright with a rich history—and life. The Port Angeles native, author of Moon Crossing Bridge and Dear Ghosts, graduated from the UW, where she studied creative writing with Theodore Roethke; collaborated with Robert Altman on the film Short Cuts, which included nine short stories by Gallagher’s third husband, Raymond Carver; and now spends a third of each year in Ireland, where she wrote the new section of her latest collection, Midnight Lantern. Presented by Town Hall with Elliott Bay Book Company.
